Carrageenan: Safe for Consumption?

What is Carrageenan?

The conversation around food additives, such as carrageenan, is something we need to continue to revisit because food additives are hidden in everything! And even despite all the hype around diet and nutrition, lots of you are still unaware of the affects these very things can be having on your health. If you are not reading food labels, we strongly encourage you begin doing so. There is simply no doubt our food supply has been tainted so it is up to you to get more informed and become more aware of what you are putting in your body.

Today we are going to highlight Carrageenan. Why? Because it is SUPER annoying to try to find a coconut milk without it.

Don’t be mistaken, coconut milk is not the only product it can be found in. Carrageenan is lurking in lots of dairy products, alternative dairy products and even your babies food! We recommend checking out this list of products containing carrageenan.

  1. Carrageenan causes me lots of issues, I can’t believe it is still allowed in organic products. Definitely have to read the labels! I agree, so annoying about finding a coconut milk without it. If they don’t have carrageenan, they have lots of different gums, which, for me, are no better. 🙁 Now I just make my own coconut milk when I want some! Thanks for the post.
